BT FLEET SPECIFY HANDISTEP WITH REVERSE SENSORS
Following BT Fleet's recent contract award to Ford Motor Company for the supply of Ford Transits, Handistep is delighted to continue being part of the BT Fleet's light commercial vehicle specification. Following extensive testing, the Handistep now features approved reverse sensors as part of the standard specification on the new Ford Transit.
The Handistep bespoke reverse sensor system has been specifically designed for the Handistep product and features patented DSM vibration proof sensors which are RoHS tested and EMC approved.
The same sensor kit can be ordered when you place your step order and installed during manufacture of the step thus saving valuable labour installation time when fitting the Handistep product to your vehicle.
Pre-wired and using dedicated IP68 rated connection plugs further ensure a quality product unlike any other sensors that are offered in the UK market place.
Additionally, should reverse sensors be required after installation of a normal Handistep, the same kit can also be offered. All step frames feature the necessary clearance holes and correct spacing in the metalwork needed to facilitate retrofitting the Handistep sensor kit to the Handistep rear step and does not impair the metal pre-treatment which makes Handistep so unique.
Further additions to the reverse sensor kit specification can also be provided with a park distance digital read out - dash mounted control making the system even more effective, being able to identify where the object / distance is in relation to the rear of the vehicle.
BT Fleet take their "Duty of Care" responsibilities very seriously and now specify Handistep with reverse sensors as standard to ensure their drivers are fully aware of unseen objects behind them whilst reversing. This is seen as a very positive approach to ensure that both drivers and members of the public are safer.

CV SHOW 2008 - "DUTY OF CARE" - ARE YOU COMPLIANT?

The CV Show 2008 has yet again proved to be a success for Handistep especially in light of the introduction of the New Corporate Manslaughter Bill 220 EN which covers "Relevant Duty of Care" by Fleet Managers to ensure safe working environments for Drivers and Operators associated with loading and unloading of equipment into and out of vans.
Handistep is again proud to be part of the BT Fleet specification on the new Ford Transit which now features additional safety related OEM approved reverse sensors to ensure that both drivers and members of the public are safer whilst vehicles are reversing.
Many new enquiries were received during the course of the show from both National and International customers as van fleets are now specifying OEM tested and approved Handistep as part of their vehicle specification.
Handistep was also exhibited throughout the show on many other exhibitor stands including Bott Ltd / Nissan UK / Venson / Chambers / Eberspacher to name just a few with a range of steps covering a variety of applications from Refrigerated vehicles through to utility applications.
During 2008 Handistep have stated even more innovative step designs will be released to take into account the ever increasing legal safety changes as those recently seen in the New Corporate Manslaughter Bill.
If you are considering installing a step for your vehicle, speak to the sales team at Handistep who will be happy to discuss the features and benefits of this unique safety related product.
Handistep goes Worldwide
Following the CV Show in April this year, the success of Handistep has continued to grow even more with the product being sent to many countries for van fleet safety and protection and Fleet customer evaluation.
European countries including Italy, Netherlands, France and Germany are just a few to mention apart from the Scandinavian countries and even Russia.
Handistep has now entered the International stage with product being exported to both Canada and the USA.
All new customers who have taken the product into their specification agree the Handistep product is truly unique and really comes into it’s own with the unique Anti-Slip Self Cleaning Tread especially in light of the varied weather conditions each of these countries experience.
If not wet and slippery as seen in the UK more over snow and ice in Scandinavia and Russia are commonly seen at temperatures going as low as -40° Handistep continues to address every type of weather condition.
Since the announcement of the New Corporate Manslaughter Bill 220EN the awareness of safety related products such as Handistep is in the forefront of Fleet Managers minds in providing a safe working environment for it’s employees and there has been a significant increase in customers standard specifications that now include Handistep.
An additional benefit has also been seen from low speed reversing impacts where Handistep has saved vehicle bodywork damage which has led to increased interest and demand for Handisteps specially designed reverse sensors which can be supplied already fitted into new step units or indeed can be supplied as a retro fit part as the Handistep framework already features the dedicated holes in the metalwork to accommodate the special anti vibration sensors.
Handistep with reverse sensors!!
The bespoke system has been specifically designed for the Handistep product with features such as vibration proof sensors (tested and EMC approved) that have a 7 degree upturn in the sensor wand to give additional warning on overhanging hazards such as skips where normal style sensors which have a flat top to the reverse wand signal would not identify.
The sensor kit can be ordered at the same time as placing your step order, whereby the reverse sensors would be installed during manufacture of the step thus saving valuable installation time when fitting the Handistep product to your vehicle.
Pre wired and using dedicated IP68 rated connection plugs further ensure a quality product unlike any other sensors that are offered in the UK market place.
Should a reverse sensor update be required after installation of a normal Handistep, again this can also be offered as all step frames feature the necessary clearance holes in the metalwork needed to facilitate retrofitting the Handistep sensor kit to the Handistep rear step.
Further additions to the reverse sensor kit specification can also be provided with a park distance digital read out - dash mounted control making the system even more effective, being able to identify where the object / distance is in relation to the rear of the vehicle.
Many major fleets now specify Handistep with reverse sensors as standard, taking "Duty of Care" very seriously wanting to ensure drivers are fully aware of unseen objects behind them.
